When I decided to undergo PBM my biggest fear was a painful recovery process. Here is my story:
I left the hospital the next morning. I barely needed my prescription pain killers and after days 2 used mostly rapid release Tylenol. My “pain” was mostly pressure and tightness, with the expected arm limitation restrictions and overall fatigue.
3 days later I was able to go for a walk outside, albeit very slow. Each following day the walks became longer, faster and stronger. I was happy to feel so alive. I believe that the walks helped me lift the anesthesia fog. My family thinks I am wonder woman, however I am just the outcome of a healthy body faced with great medical care.
I wanted to share my recovery process to give the next woman the strength to show up for this very personal and difficult surgery. It was one of the most difficult decisions I have ever made, along with having a TAHBSO 10 years prior which has also proven to be one of the smartest!
I have outsmarted my unfortunate family history of having my Mom and maternal Grandmother die of Ovarian cancer, both in their early 40's. How lucky am I to be 50??
Bless you & your family! You made a very wise decision. Be strong…be well.

It was a great pleasure to have met you at the Making Strides Walk today. You are truly amazing & an inspiration to any woman facing the same treatment. Good health to you!
