In our local paper today (NEWSDAY) there was an article written by Delthia Ricks about a study done at Columbia University in NYC. Basically the study found that women who take vitamin A, lutein or beta carotene (supplements called CAROTENOIDS) may have a higher risk of dying from RECURRENT breast cancer.

Other info was that those with early stage breast cancer who routinely took vitamins C or E (supplements called antioxidants) had a lower recurrance risk after 5 years than those who didn't take the vitamins.

Another study by researchers in Finland found that woman age 75 & older who had ANY daily supplements: multivitamins; folic acid; iron; copper had a slightly higher risk of death than those avoiding the supplements. THERE WAS NO RISK WITHL calcium & vitamin D.

Many survivors of Breast Cancer are warned to not take supplements as per instructions from their Oncologists. As always, check with your Doctors. Additionally, when undergoing radiation treatments, some supplements can hinder the treatment.
