we are getting better tools to diagnose breast cancer
tomosynthesis: 3 D xray test that takes 300 pics in 10 seconds.A pea sized lesion can be picked up.
CT Scan: Cat scan -computerized test giving 2 dimentional views or cross-section. A contrast dye is used. This test is used to see if cancer has spread into the chest wall.
mammogram: two xrays each breast from different angles- top to bottom & side to side
MRI: magnetic resonance imaging uses magnetic or radio waves to see a cross section of images inside of the breast.
breast ultrasound: uses sound waves to see inside the breast. Is the lump solid or fluid filled.
