This was too complicated for my wee lil brain to comprehend, but what I got out of it was, this is good news! Many lives will be saved & research to continue is a wonderful thing!
The DNA makeup of a breast cancer tumor was decoded thus enabling the mutations that caused the cancer to be spread to now be identified.
By decoding the DNA or genetic code of this aggressive breast cancer tumor, they can now unlock the secrets of how breast cancer begins, spreads, & how to treat it in the future.
When they can understand the mistake in cell division & the cancer's replicaton of its cell material, they can find the errors in the cell sequence & hopefully fix it.
Right now malignant cells behave differently in people being treated for breast cancer because their cancer cell error may be slightly different than others depending on where the DNA error occurred.
