After my own struggle through the BRCA gene mutation diagnosis, I decided to help others. I started with a blog and then onto a social network called BRCAUmbrella (http://brcaumbrella.ning.com). We have 84 members from across the globe all sharing stories, surgery photos, links, blogs and very active forum. This is an online support group that works. We are together trying to form more local support groups by pressing our genetic counsellors with our desire for physical support groups and offering our voluntary services.
I believe we need to help each other through this thing. It is deeper than being an individual with a health problem – it effects beyond just you – its a lonely place sometimes and all you want to do is reach out and talk to someone else.
PrevivorsandSurvivors has been added to every BRCA Support Group on our site.
Cross promotion is the key, let's connect and make this a comined thing rather than islands of many.
Sending out some big BRCA positivity (lol) to all!
Together we are stronger than we can ever be alone.
