Hi; Please help, my daughter had a biopsey on both breasts. Pa. Hsp said “They thought she was ok, come back in 6 months. This hsp. told my other daugter her slides were fine 6 months before she was diagnoised with ov.ca. and passed away 13 mnths. later. Do you think she should go to Fox Chase Ca.Ctr. or Abington Hsp. She lives in Montgomery Cty.Pa. Close to CC hsps.

My friend who is an RN & resides in Pa, has answered this with the following response:
I asked my friend and she said keep going until you are satisfied with the right doctor and diagnosis. Myself, I totally agree. We wish her luck and good health.
Hi Toby – I am unable to use your website. I am an analog person in a digital age. I did read the current posting and would like you to pass on my thoughts. There is no question that I would follow up for a second opinion rather than just wait 6 mos. I have never heard of the hospitals she mentioned but I have heard good things about the Cancer Centers of America and one of the centers is located in Pa., how far away it is from her daughter I wouldn’t know. There is also news that has just come out this week about the use of an aromatase inhibitor (like tamoxphen) not only on pre-cancerous women but also on at risk women. She might to consult a breast surgeon about this. Thanks for forwarding this info for me. Barbara Bergman
Tobey, It is always helpful to seek a second expert opinion, mostly in a family with history of ovarian carcinoma. Genetic counseling (BRCA) could also be entertained. Hope this helps… Best regards,
From what I understand of the question, the member seems to be asking whether her daughter should seek a second opinion on her breast biopsies. Based on her brief story, I would be inclined to recommend that she does seek the second opinion at the cancer center for two reasons: 1) It will make her/her daughter feel much better psychologically due to the experience with her other daughter 2) Cancer pathology is something that takes work and needs to be done on a daily basis to be good – so, going to a dedicated cancer center would allow the slides to be reviewed by pathologists who are dedicated to reviewing slides of ?breast ca vs. a general pathologist at a community hospital who may see a breast cancer rarely. In my practice, I've always encouraged people to seek appropriate second opinions and this seems to be a very appropriate second opinion.
