Hi Tobey,
I am reaching out to you because I just received some scary news. I took the Ca2729, CEA and CA-125 blood tests a little over a week ago.
My CA-125 level was a 67. The other two levels were normal. My gynecologist suggested that I see an ovarian oncologist.
I tested positive for BRCA 1 about 2 years ago, but opted not to have surgery yet. I guess having just turned 47 that was not too smart. Although there aremany false positives, my levels are pretty high.
My fear of ovarian surgery stems from the fact that I had 3 inches of my small intestine removed 12 years ago, and I have been fine since. There is a smallchance that the surgery could complicate the previous surgery.
Is there a surgeon that you would highly recommend on Long Island? I have one referral of a Dr. Martin Goldstein in New York City. I think I better start making some appointments.
I appreciate any feedback that you can offer.
Thank you so much for making your time available to all of us BRCA women.
Lisa
