Recently I was told to avoid having a massage due to mastectomy.
So, I did a shout out to my Breast Cancer group & got several good
replies.I am most interested in what other information you ladies
have in regard to this question.
Thanks!

Great question. I tried to go to reputable sites to research this and found
nothing conclusive other than consulting your medical treatment team
prior to receiving any kind of massage.

I had a SIEA-flap reconstruction: my plastic surgeon has RECOMMENDED gentle massage to help soften up the reconstructed breasts, which (5 weeks out from surgery now) are swollen hard, like two stale bagels in a leather sack made of my own skin. HOWEVER, I had a sentinal node biopsy: I lose only 2 on one side, 6 on the other. If you've had a full AND, or lost a considerable number of nodes, you might indeed be at a greater risk for lymphedema. Every surgery, every woman, has a different situation.
